Reason enough I hear you say, but there are many more for choosing this delightful and very charming cottage: comfortable, warm and spacious en-suite pretty bedrooms, immaculately presented; a large residents' lounge with log burning stove complete with widescreen TV, library and Internet access for those of you who cannot bear to be parted from your e-mails. Gay Friendly Country Hotel, Restaurant and
Licensed Wedding Venue, Ash, Martock, Somerset Ash House Gay Friendly Hotel, Restaurant and Wedding Venue, Main Street, Ash, Martock, Somerset ![]() www.ashhousehotel.co.uk Ash House is a most handsome, elegant country hotel that sits quietly in 1.5 acres of private grounds and gardens near the pretty village of Martock amidst the glorious Somerset countryside. In its past life Ash House was built in the Georgian era circa 1710 out of Ham stone as a residence for a prosperous gentleman. Now after many months of sympathetic restorations by the new owner and friendly host Gordon Doodson this once tired and unloved building has been transformed to its former glory without detriment to its fine architectural heritage. Ash House Country Hotel now provides fabulously comfortable accommodations where the juxtaposition of modern facilities against the ancient house is deliciously honest. All of the en-suite bedrooms at Ash house are beautifully presented, comfortably furnished and well equipped with flat screen televisions, direct dial telephones, WiFi access, quality toiletries and a generous hospitality tray. These rooms are just perfect for switching off from the outside world. Snuggle between crisp white Italian cotton sheets in your comfortable bed for a peaceful night’s sleep and refresh yourself under the fabulous power shower in the morning (superior rooms have baths as well). Ash House has two wonderful places to eat where all the food is cooked with passion and served in style. The Orangery Brassiere is a great place to relax and looks out across the garden which is floodlit at night. The restaurant is slightly more formal in style (but without an ounce of stuffiness) and you get the same friendly service from Gordon’s friendly team of staff and the same wonderful dishes from the kitchen. The Snug Bar is a warm and cosy room to have a pre-dinner aperitif or a brandy afterwards. During the colder months you can snuggle up in front of a roaring log fire and in the summer the windows are opened to let the heady scent of lavender drift in from the garden. Ash House Hotel is licensed for civil ceremonies and what a perfect venue for a country house wedding it makes. Apart from the beautiful house, accommodations and location, for us it is the astonishing amount ofpassion and commitment that Gordon pours daily into this stunning hotel for his guests that makes this hotel an amazing place to stay. |
